October 17th, 2019 – The Ancestry of Nordic Songs, First Church of Christ, Scientist, New York

The Camerata Chamber Choir from Copenhagen, Denmark invites the audience to join us on a journey through time – from the year 1170 and up to today.

The concert presents the very earliest pieces of Nordic music – both religious anthems and traditional folk songs – and how these pieces still highly relevant and popular. The pieces are not only given in versions that try to come close to the original intention. We also show how modern composers interpret and transform them into personal works of art.

On the program are pieces from The Piæ Cantones, by Mogens Petersøn, Per Nørgaard, Sven David Sandström and Knut Nysted.

Where: First Church of Christ, Scientist, Central Park West at 68th Street (ample seating available)
