December 21, 2017 – Messias, Holmens Church

In keeping with Christmas tradition, CAMERATA choir and orchestra will fill the Church of Holmen with the sounds of Händel’s wonderful Messiah. This year the three concerts are on the 17th, 18th and 21st of December. Tickets are available on and via Politiken PLUS.

For the fourth time in a row, conductor Jakob Hultberg is heading the performance of Messiah. Jakob Hulterg recounts: “It is amazing to be working with CAMERATA on this exceptional piece of music. CAMERATA is a choir with a superb buoyancy of articulation and a crystal clear sound, which, in my opinion, is perfectly suited for this type of music. And it is a huge privilege to be working with some of Copenhagen’s finest musicians in the orchestra. I still work uncompromisingly with the interpretation I found when I first looked into this music four years ago. I seek the physical, the dynamics and the drama that gives life to every single note of Händel’s rich music. Our Messiah speaks as much to the body as it does to the ears and the soul.”

This years’ soloists are a dream team of exceptional voices. Internationally acclaimed Swedish soprano Klara Ek, is a real scoop at this year’s Messiah. Ek has a clear beautiful voice and great mastery of the early music, and has worked with some of the top conductors and orchestras on the international stage. Lately she has been singing the part of as Almira in Händel’s Edilia at Staatsoper Hamburg.

Counter tenor Daniel Carlsson is an eminent singer within his field, as his international career testifies to. He sang Händel’s Messiah with CAMERATA in 2015 with great success and this year he will once again claim the alto part with his luminous and fair male voice.

The Swedish tenor Leif Aruhn-Solénhar has made a good name for himself both as an opera singer and concert vocalist. He is an acknowledged interpreter of baroque music in his native country as well as internationally. In CAMERATA’s 2015 performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion, he gave a convincing performance as the evangelist and you can look forward to hearing him in Händel’s Messiah.

The young Norwegian baritone Leif Jone Ølberg has already had considerable success in roles at the Royal Danish Opera and in 2015 he won the Danish singing competition “Operaens Venner”. It is with great pleasure that we present Leif Jone Ølberg to the CAMERATA audience.
